Why should I get my heating system Flushed? 

Over time your heating system can corrode from inside-out if not treated correctly. Iron filings from inside your radiators and pump gather, congeal and contaminate the system. This is known in the industry as Magnetite, due to its magnetic nature. 

When a heating system becomes contaminated the water in the heating system is discolored and thicker than water. This makes it harder to heat and means you’ll spend more money on heating bills. It also has a potential to block parts of the heating system and in some cases writes off your boiler. If you notice a radiator on your heating system is not working this could be a sign of a magnetite building up. Also if you notice the bottom of your radiator is cold but the top is warm this could also indicate iron filings are gathering at the bottom of the radiator. 

It’s recommended to have your heating system flushed every 10 years. You can then be sure that your boiler and system is performing optimally and saving you money on your energy bills. 

We also recommended installing a magnetic heating filter if one is not present on the system. That way if iron filings build up again in future then the filter will help protect the system.
